The Town of Marana is seeking an Equipment Operator I to work in the Public Works Department with the Street Division. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in having a direct impact on the Town's infrastructure. The Town offers a competitive benefits package. Normal business hours are 6 : 00 4 : 30, 4 days a week with mandatory rotating on-call. The location is 5100 W Ina Road, Tucson AZ 85743. The expected hiring range is $20.65 / hr. - $25.30 / hr. Placement within the salary range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and / or budget.

Examples of duties include performing routine semi-skilled maintenance tasks, operating a variety of trucks and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures, inspecting, cleaning, and performing routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment, completing required daily logs and entering reports, identifying and reporting mechanical problems, tracking and managing materials and supplies, performing general street maintenance which includes grading of roadways, grading of shoulders, culvert repair and maintenance, street sweeping, drainage channel maintenance, bridge de-icing, and mowing. May perform general street maintenance which includes removing and replacing concrete and / or asphalt, patching potholes, and sealing cracks. Operates a variety of trucks and heavy equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures : belly dump, flatbed trailer, 10 wheel dump truck, kick broom, grader, loader, backhoe, gannon box, steel roller, rubber roller, etc. Inspects and maintains equipment, blue staking, inventory, and processes work orders in Cartegraph.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalency, over three years' experience in road maintenance, construction, or related field operating heavy equipment, must possess an Arizona (Class A) Commercial Driver License (CDL) w / Tanker Endorsement or must obtain within 6 months of employment, subject to random testing per DOT (FMSCA) requirements, must complete a pre-employment physical, a 50-pound lift test, and audiogram, complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.

Preferred qualifications include equipment transport transport, haul and / or drive equipment, surveying experience - shoot grade, computer base work-order experience.
