Hematology / Oncology Physician

Position Overview :

We have an immediate need for Two (2) locum Hematologists / Oncologists for our veteran population at the VA Medical Center in Providence, RI. These roles offer an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in veterans lives while experiencing the beauty of the Northeast.

Responsibilities :

Obtain medical history, conduct physical examinations, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients

Approximate clinical load :

o 5 hours of inpatient coverage per week

o 26 hours of bookable clinical time per week

o remaining time dedicated to clinical follow-up and other assigned tasks such as tumor board discussions

o For bookable clinical time, approximate case load is 2 patients per hour.

Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Hematology - Oncology clinical patients

Provide notification of test results for patients receiving care

Must have completed a residency and be Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine Medical Oncology Board.

Credentialling and onboarding takes approximately 4-6 weeks.

Hours & Schedule :

Standard Administrative Hours : Monday through Friday 8 : 00am 4 : 30pm (excluding federal holidays).

Specific clinic times to be identified upon start of assignment

On-call hours required

Compensation based on experience ranging from $2800 - $3200 per day

Items Required for Submission :

Current CV without any gaps over 30 days since completion of medical school- written explanations are accepted

One active, unrestricted Medical License in any state

Current DEA

BLS- American Heart Association (AHA) required and ACLS
