Overview
Field Construction Engineer – E&I (Night Shift) for a client in the LNG industry. Location : Port Arthur, Texas. Type of Role : Contract- year rolling. This position oversees the safe and environmentally compliant execution of Electrical / Instrumentation installation, medium / high voltage loop testing and loop checks by EPC contractors at the project premises. Monitor the execution of work to ensure progression per project specifications and industry standards and applicable codes. Report on quality issues and assist in resolving them with subject matter expertise. Coordinate with Construction, Commissioning, Turnover and Operations groups to deliver a high-quality product for a world-class LNG facility. Assist in planning and developing tools to indicate progress and generate daily, weekly and monthly reports. Focus on eliminating errors at the source and collaborating with craft professionals to achieve the best quality safely.
This position is for the Night Shift schedule.
Responsibilities and essential duties
- Perform field observations, leadership and field walks, JSA reviews, toolbox meetings, and adhere to project safety regulations.
- Ensure qualifications, code compliance, and adherence to project specifications and industry standards.
- Maintain accountability on deliverables within the discipline and monitor progress of work; participate in punch list walkdowns.
- Develop understanding of system scoping and prepare to walk the systems in involved areas; compile drawings and specifications in advance.
- Oversee and manage contractor construction activities to ensure compliance with the EPC contract, permits, site regulations, and the construction safety program.
- Participate in walkdowns related to systems, raise punch points, and report / validate them during attendance.
- Interface with internal stakeholders, EPC contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other counterparties to respond to technical queries.
- Ensure zero-accident philosophy and requirements are implemented; ensure tools and equipment are safe and in proper condition.
- Participate in regular contractor construction meetings.
- Review contractor procedures, reports, and product quality to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Coordinate with Commissioning and Start-up Manager and engineers to facilitate project startup per turnover plan and plant performance testing expectations.
- Manage storage / preservation requirements and conduct observations of laydown yards storing electrical equipment to ensure adherence.
- Perform other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Minimum requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.10 years of experience managing major mechanical construction projects including LNG, Oil & Gas, Chemical and energy infrastructure projects.5 years of experience in management or construction of energy infrastructure projects related to Electrical & Instrumentation.5 years of experience with brownfield projects preferred.Knowledge of Electrical & Instrumentation construction or engineering operations in field activities.Working knowledge of inspection of electrical equipment, materials, and testing of Electrical & Instrumentation systems (including loop checks, testing of HV systems, and related components).Strong knowledge of engineering and construction standards, materials, and vendor processes; ability to ensure installations meet latest design drawings, specifications, standards, and NEC / NFPA codes.Strong leadership abilities to build a positive team environment and influence contractors with technical skills.Analytical thinking with the ability to use concise data to solve problems; may obtain guidance from senior engineers on critical issues.Effective written and oral communication with internal and external stakeholders.Self-starter with strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities; capable of managing multiple issues and working independently, particularly at night.Professional demeanor in discussions with senior management and ability to present critical information to support decisions.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.Team player with experience in achieving project goals and objectives through a forward-looking approach.Ability to manage multiple complex issues and perform quality control inspections.Experience supervising heavy industrial projects in oil, gas, chemicals, refinery, process, petrochemical and power generating stations.Valid Driver's License; Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) preferred.The Global Edge Consultants, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
