Essential Functions : To perform semi-skilled maintenance and landscape tasks and to operate a wide variety of landscape equipment.

Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and maintain common areas on island and street medians.
  • Water, mow, weed, trim, renovate and fertilize lawns.
  • Performs planting and transplanting of grasses and plants according to good horticultural practices
  • Spread and places mulch, decorative stones, borders and or other landscape accents as directed.
  • Maintain all island trail ways and preserves island wide.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Comply with all Fisher Island standards (i.e., grooming, conducts, policies and procedures).

Education / Skills / Work Experience Required :

  • High school diploma and one-year preferred experience in landscape maintenance.
  • Must possess a valid class D license.
  • May be required to operate trucks, aerial trucks, power saws, hand tools, safety equipment and other hydraulic and gas powered equipment.
  • Knowledge of methods, tools, materials and equipment used in landscaping work & fertilizers and their applications.
  • Ability to learn proper plant & tree care, fertilizing, watering and trimming methods.
  • Ability to acquire skill in the use and care of chain saws, edger’s, trimmers, spray tanks and other commonly used tools.
  • Physical strength and agility sufficient to permit working overhead, and with equipment or objects weighing over 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently.
