Ranch Worker

The position is located in [Sells, AZ].

Position Summary :

Under general supervision, assists in day-to-day activities of maintaining the ranch of the Tohono O'odham Nation.

The work is normally reviewed upon completion, with occasional spot checks while in process, to ensure accuracy, timeliness and conformance to established standards; major work tasks are covered by instructions or procedures and unusual situations are referred to a supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Oversees and attends to livestock.
• Rotates livestock according to grass / water supply.
• Brands and vaccinates calves; while branding steers and bulls are separated to transfer to the livestock auction.
• Remove intruding cattle back to their range.
• Repairs and maintains the water pipelines, floats, corrals and pens.
• Examines livestock to detect disease and injury; performs first aid as needed.
• Maintains fence lines.
• Works closely with the US Department of Agriculture, cattle inspectors, range management, cattle buyers, and surrounding communities.
• Performs other job related duties and contributes to a team effort.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Minimum Qualifications :

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma, and two years' experience working with livestock.
