Responsibilities :
Prepare food according to recipes, portions for serving and puts food on plates for dining room serviceDemonstrate knowledge of specific diet requirementsSupervise serving of mealsStore leftovers and perishable goods in prescribed mannerCleanup of Kitchen and surrounding areasTrash removalDemonstrate safe food handling techniques using appropriate and utensils and gloves when necessaryEnsure the safe and appropriate execution of food preparation and use of equipmentConduct inventory of food and supplies for weekly ordering purposesMenu planningSupervision of kitchen staffAttend all meetings and in-service training programs as requiredPerform other tasks as designed by the Administrator and / or any member of managementUse good judgment and keep the resident’s interests in mind at all timesPractice “Standard Precautions” at all timesAdhere to our procedures and guidelines for fire, life safety, disaster, work safety and other emergenciesOther duties as assignedQualifications :
Previous Cook Experience (preferred)CBRF Certification (required)SERV Safe Certification (required)Ability to read and understand recipes, written instructions and labels in EnglishStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously with supervisors, peers and subordinatesHigh energy level and ability to perform short cycle repetitive tasksAvailability to work every other weekend and holidaysPhysical and Sensory Requirements :
Lift and move up to 50 pounds, 10-20 or more times per shiftSpend up to five hours per shift on your feetFrequent walking, bending, lifting, stooping, twisting, and reaching for most of your shiftAbility to perform short cycle and / or repetitive duties under specific instructionsManual dexterity and motor coordination are required in the handling of all kitchen equipment and utensilsMust have genuine interest in the needs of the elderly population, understanding the problems they encounter and pave patience and tact in serving their needs
