Structural Drafter

Overview

Electro Mechanical Industries, Inc. (EMI) is a steel fabricator serving industries including railroad, oilfield, telecommunication, government, aerospace, and wastewater. EMI designs and fabricates a variety of steel products including telecommunication towers and tower mounts, solar platforms, heavy equipment platforms, structural skids for oilfield, data centers, and other products for multiple industries.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Structural Drafter located in Houston, TX. The Structural Drafter will be responsible for creating shop drawings, technical drawings, assembly drawings, and turning concepts into 3D models for fabrication using SolidWorks.

The duties may include tasks ranging from modifying an existing design to creating a brand new design. Daily tasks include but are not limited to :

• Designate part numbers as needed and create design input folders for assemblies to document design inputs.
• Create sales drawings for customer feedback on preliminary project concepts.
• Create quote drawings / BOM for estimating purposes of an agreed concept.
• Create fabrication drawings for every non-outsourced part within a newly purchased assembly.
• Complete redline revisions as requested by the lead structural drafter.
• Seek feedback from other departments for new / special designs to ensure best sourcing and manufacturing.
• May occasionally meet with customers to obtain or discuss design details and offer creative solutions.
