Job Title
Performs responsible semiskilled work in the maintenance of the municipal golf course; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Preparing, maintaining, and mowing the golf course; maintaining course facilities. Mows fairways, roughs, and greens; changes pin location; rakes sand traps. Top dresses and seeds greens as needed. Assists with grounds improvement; lays sod; repairs cart paths and other facilities. Trims and prunes trees; trims hedges. Edges around sand traps. To maintain landscaping in an attractive and aesthetic, pleasing manner, keeping grounds, rights-of-way, and medians free of weeds and pests utilizing recognized tools of the landscape maintenance trade Weeds landscaped areas by hand, utilizing mechanical methods such as a scuffle hoe, string trimmer or roto-tiller o Requires the use of hand sprayers, backpack sprayers, electric powered sprayers, and cyclone and drop spreaders. Applies landscape mulch to landscape beds using hand tools, wheelbarrows, small tractors with a loader attachment, dump trailers, and small dump trucks. Prunes trees and palms from the ground using gas powered or hand pruning or chain saw tools, prunes shrubs and ground covers using hand tools or gas-powered hedge shears May require some work from step ladders or extension ladders Applies fertilizer to landscape beds, trees and palms Edges landscape beds with hand tools or gas powered edgers Removes trash and dead plants, and replaces plants Cleans practice green; keeps golf course clean and free of debris. Mows, edges, weeds eats and blows off cart paths. Assists with the maintenance and cleaning of general clubhouse and grounds. Performs related tasks as required. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
General knowledge of the methods, materials and practices used in golf course maintenance. General knowledge of the equipment used to maintain a golf course and its safe operation. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, course guests and the public. Ability to operate miscellaneous gas-powered ground maintenance equipment Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds Skill in the operation of golf course maintenance equipment. Education and experience : High school diploma or equivalent. Licenses, certifications, special requirements : Valid Florida Driver's License required. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for visual inspection involving small defects and / or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
