Controller Mining Industry
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Controller to lead the financial operations of our mining organization. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all financial reporting, accounting activities, budgeting, and regulatory compliance. The Controller will play a vital role in supporting operations, managing risk, and driving financial performance across the company. Ideal Candidate will have 10+ years of experience. Participation in banking experience a plus.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee accounting functions including A / R, A / P, payroll, general ledger, and cost accounting
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and dashboards
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting, and analyze variances
- Partner with operations teams to track production metrics, costs, and asset utilization
- Ensure internal controls, regulatory compliance (MSHA, environmental, tax), and audit readiness
- Manage cash flow, capital projects, inventory controls, and depreciation
- Supervise and develop accounting staff (Assistant Controller, A / P, Billing, etc.)
- Support system upgrades and financial process improvements
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Coordinate audits, valuations, insurance reviews, and mandated financial reports
- Other responsibilities may include financing, insurance, and banking
Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA / CMA preferred)10+ years of combined experience in accounting and controller positions.Banking experience strongly preferred.Background in the mining or heavy industrial sector highly preferredStrong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and asset managementExperience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel; mining software experience is a plusProven leadership, communication, and analytical skillsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) :
Deep understanding of GAAP, mining compliance, and cost modelingProficient in financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting toolsAbility to lead teams, manage deadlines, and collaborate cross-functionallyExperience in system implementation and process optimizationStrong attention to detail and a strategic mindsetPhysical & Work Environment Requirements :
