Overview

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH) is looking for an Aircraft Sustainment / Liaison Engineer for the following locations :

  • Oklahoma City, OK
  • Fairfield, CA
  • Wichita, KS
  • Altus, OK
  • Portsmouth, NH
  • Trenton, NJ
  • Goldsboro, NC

Position Purpose

Liaison (Sustainment) Engineer supporting line maintenance and heavy maintenance depot operations at US Air Force bases.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical dispositions and guidance for aircraft issues that exceed published limits for structural damage including sheet metal and composite repairs. This often includes performing a structural analysis.
  • Providing work deviation authorization, interpretation of service documents & Technical Orders.
  • Providing options for repairing versus replacing a part to minimize financial impact.
  • Providing aircraft system trouble shooting assistance.
  • Attending regular production meetings to ensure timely support.
  • Providing on-site engineering assistance for significantly damaged aircraft as required.
  • Coordinating events / issues with USAF Program Office for additional action, troubleshooting and follow-up.
  • Monitoring trends and recurring discrepancies requiring corrective action. Developing Typical Repairs and manual supplement to eliminate repetitive Engineering Technical Assistance Requests (ETARs).
  • Authoring policies and processes to ensure general compliance with FAA regulations

    • Qualifications

    Education and Experience Requirements :

  • BS Degree (or higher) in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering
  • Two plus (2+) years in specific technical discipline

    • Required Unique Skills :

  • Ability to perform structural analysis to substantiate repairs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated, conscientious and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of FARs, FAA policies, and vendor manual (AMM, IPC, CMM)
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule to meet internal customerneeds
  • Aircraft / airline / MRO aviation engineering experience desired
  • Ability to pass a Tier 1(minimum) Investigation for work on Department of Defense contracts. Existing security clearance is preferred.

    • Location / Travel

    This is a REMOTE position with no relocation requirement. Travel to USAF bases will be required once per month (minimum) for 3-4 days at a time. All travel costs are covered (including flights, hotel, rental car, GSA per diem, etc.). Additionally, the travel locations / frequency are subject to change (with an advanced notice) depending on where coverage is needed.

    This is a salary position including paid time off and health insurance benefits.
