ERM is hiring a Construction Site Manager in Iowa to support construction oversight for Wind energy projects. This is a full-time (40-60 hours / week), limited-term role for the duration of 12 months, extendable.
Overview
The Construction Site Manager acts as the Owner's Representative coordinating Owner personnel on-site, including Health, Safety, and Environmental personnel, quality observers, and other service providers during on-site construction activities.
Responsibilities
- Act as the Owner's Representative on-site, coordinating Owner personnel and service providers while construction activities occur.
- Manage and coordinate all on-site construction activities for compliance with the project schedule and contract requirements.
- Supervise and mentor managers; monitor their activities and provide leadership.
- Monitor and report on construction productivity and schedule performance to the owner's Project Manager; take actions to meet budget and schedule requirements.
- Direct implementation of construction schedule recovery plans as required.
- Coordinate the Construction Completion Walkdown and manage the close-out of punch list items.
- Assist owners with landowner / public relations.
- Conduct daily coordination meetings with field staff and contractors.
- Report weekly schedule and commodity installation status to the owner's Project Manager.
- Monitor extra work authorization requests, back charges, and supplier / subcontractor progress / final payment requests for acceptance and ensure timely tracking information to the Project Administrator.
- Hold full knowledge of the safety program and act as Safety Representative on site in the absence of the regular Safety Supervisor.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and implement ERM's and the client's safety programs.
- Have general knowledge of all construction disciplines and stand in for lead disciplines as needed.
- Resolve safety and quality issues with the contractor's safety and quality managers.
- Understand major commercial and deliverable terms of construction contracts and manage within these terms.
- Prepare the construction portion of the monthly report.
- Coordinate with Field Engineers or home office engineers on engineering deliverables.
- Manage construction Manufacturer's Service Technicians and track timesheets for hourly employees.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and change management; supervise the work of others and address performance as needed.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to manage construction activities, contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Be flexible to changing project conditions, develop alternative solutions, and recommend actions to maintain project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Maintain attention to detail and documentation through daily logs, KPI tracking, and periodic reporting.
- Be willing to work late nights, weekends, or travel on short notice to address project issues.
Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Construction Manager.Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering preferred.Experience with Wind energy projects.Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Procore.General knowledge of construction principles / practices.Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and / or self-perform work.Experience leading teams and maintaining relationships with external entities.Driver's License required : valid driver's license and ability to operate a company vehicle due to frequent travel.About ERM
