PROCESS ENGINEER – COMPOUNDING & MASTERBATCH ADDITIVES The Process Engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing our compounding and masterbatch additive manufacturing operations, with a focus on twin screw extrusion technologies. This position requires a strong foundation in polymer science, compounding process engineering, and a proven track record of driving efficiency, quality, and innovation in plastics manufacturing. Key Responsibilities Process Development & OptimizationDevelop, implement, and optimize twin screw extrusion compounding processes for color and additive masterbatch production. Enhance throughput, efficiency, and product performance through extrusion process modeling and design of experiments. Identify and implement cost-effective process improvements to support scalability and new product introduction. Quality Assurance & Process ControlEnsure extrusion and compounding processes consistently meet industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Partner with Quality to establish robust process control systems ensuring color consistency, dispersion quality, and additive performance. Drive continuous improvements in compound quality, homogeneity, and reproducibility. Technical Support & TroubleshootingProvide hands-on technical expertise to resolve extruder, compounding, and formulation-related issues. Lead root cause investigations for process deviations and implement corrective / preventive actions. Create and maintain detailed process documentation, SOPs, and training materials specific to twin screw extrusion and compounding. Project ManagementLead extrusion-based process improvement and new product scale-up projects from concept to commercialization. Collaborate closely with R&D, production, and quality teams to ensure smooth technology transfer and successful implementation. Manage project timelines, budgets, and progress reporting to senior leadership. Training & DevelopmentMentor engineers and operators on extrusion best practices, compounding optimization, and additive incorporation techniques. Stay current with advancements in extrusion technology, screw design, and compounding equipment, sharing insights with the team. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field. 3-5 years of process engineering experience in the plastics industry with a focus on compounding, masterbatch additives, and twin screw extrusion. Strong technical knowledge of polymer processing, rheology, extrusion screw design, and compounding technologies. Proficiency in process simulation, statistical analysis, and design of experiments (DOE). Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or equivalent methodologies. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot extrusion issues and optimize additive dispersion. Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Proven project management experience leading compounding or extrusion-based initiatives.
