Job Summary
The Executive Director, Applications serves as the chief application officer for UCSF Health. This position plans, develops, articulates, implements, monitors, and maintains the clinical and revenue cycle aspects of the electronic health record and associated information systems across UCSF Health and its affiliates, and serves as a consultant and partner on the effective use of information systems across these customers. This role will also oversee the development and creation of a enterprise-wide imaging and virtual care strategies, with the associated analyst teams under their direction. The incumbent participates with other clinical and operational senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives of UCSF Health. The role facilitates alignment with other leaders in Health IT, Information Technology Shared Services, and other mission area leaders to ensure that the organization's missions and strategic objectives are enabled and advanced by its clinical information systems. The Executive Director, Applications oversees execution of a portfolio of major, complex, high-risk, and strategically critical projects across the enterprise. This role represents the health system in systemwide, state, and national meetings and other forums. The Executive Director, Applications, makes decisions on health care delivery applications matters and ensures achievements of objectives. S / he / they develops and sustains clinical and revenue cycle applications systems that are in compliance with organizational goals, values, and mission.
This role will oversee an application staff of approx.180 professionals. Responsibilities of this position may also include serving as the IT Leader / Advisor on the Senior Leadership Council for the Ambulatory and Children's Business Units and representing the Health CIO in various capacities. Direct reports to this position will include the Sr. Director for Clinical Systems, Director of Business Systems, Director of Enterprise Imaging and the Director of Virtual Care and Telehealth.
Key Functions of this role include :
This position is classified as Hybrid for onsite work requirements.
This role allows partial or full days of remote work. Job duties require intermittent physical presence at a UCSF or affiliate location, for specific categories of activities. Onsite presence is expected to be approximately 3 days per week, but certain activities may require employee to be in the office for more extended periods.
Onsite activities may include, but are not limited to, executive meetings, collaboration meetings, customer meetings, team-building events, go-live readiness activities and support, 1 : 1 meetings, and team meetings.
A designated workspace will be assigned only in cases where employee comes to the office at least 4 days / week or for other documented physical or ergonomic special requirements. Hoteling options will be provided when needed. Job duties may require presence at additional UCSF and affiliate locations. The home office will be located at 1800 Owens Street, San Francisco, CA 94158.
Employee will be responsible for commuting expenses. Expenses to a location other than the assigned primary office location may be reimbursable to the extent that they exceed the employee's standard commute and follow UCSF policy.
While most onsite requirements will be known in advance, due to the variable nature of our work, employee may be requested to report to the office with 4 business hours of notice. Business hours are defined as 0800-1700 PST Monday-Friday.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $187,300 - $454,700 (Annual Rate).
