The Support Engineer role involves providing support within the desktop computing environment, including installation, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and upgrades of end-user equipment. Responsibilities include help desk support, problem analysis, training, account management, and hardware / software maintenance.
Essential Job Duties
- Respond to help desk tickets and provide remote support for hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Provide first-level support and triage for incidents, routing to appropriate teams.
- Assist with desktop support that cannot be resolved remotely.
- Maintain accurate support records and update knowledge bases.
- Assist employees with administrative needs like password resets, application access, and backups.
- Educate users on operating systems and software applications.
- Set up and configure new user accounts, hardware, and communication tools.
- Participate in onboarding and offboarding processes, including account and permission management.
- Manage IT inventory and licensing compliance.
- Coordinate hardware / software maintenance and escalate issues as needed.
- Install and update software applications.
- Maintain backup routines and change logs.
- Represent the department professionally and perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred.Certifications like A+, Network+, Microsoft preferred; ITIL training optional.1-3 years of help desk and desktop support experience in an enterprise environment.Proficiency with Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and basic hardware troubleshooting.Knowledge of OS imaging, deployment, and remote access solutions.Ability to prioritize tasks and resolve operational issues efficiently.Additional Details
