A Day in the Life of a Surgical Technologist :

Responsibilities The Surgical Technologist will work under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel to ensure safe and effective conduct of invasive procedures.

The role ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and maintains vigilance for the sterile field.

This position ensures the operating room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and procedures are conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.

Requirements Must hold and maintain certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Must complete a CAAHEP-accredited or other nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists.
