Tax Accountant Individual Tax & Planning Specialist

Leesburg, VA | Frederick, MD | In office a must, with a Hybrid Option Available

Are you a skilled tax professional with a strong background in complex individual tax returns (1040s) and tax planning? Do you have the experience and confidence to handle high-level tax matters independently while providing consulting services to clients? DeLeon & Stang is seeking a Tax Accountant who can bring their technical tax expertise to our team and help clients navigate their tax challenges.

What Youll Do :

• Prepare and review a variety of complex individual tax returns (1040s), including those involving investment income, rental properties, multi-state taxation, and estate / trust considerations.
• Meet with clients to provide tax planning and consulting, proactively identifying strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
• Work directly with high-net-worth individuals and business owners, advising on tax-saving opportunities and compliance strategies.
• Assist clients with IRS and state tax compliance, addressing audits, notices, and other tax-related issues.
• Work closely with the Tax Manager to supervise and support tax staff, ensuring quality and efficiency.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor for tax-related concerns.
• Take responsibility for managing multiple client engagements, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.

What You Bring :

Minimum 3+ years of experience at a regional CPA firm, with a strong focus on individual tax preparation and review.

Proven ability to work independently on complex individual tax returns, applying technical tax knowledge with minimal supervision.

Confidence in meeting with clients, identifying tax planning opportunities, and providing consulting services.

CPA license preferred (or actively pursuing).

Strong knowledge of individual tax laws, including multi-state tax, real estate transactions, investments, and trusts.

Excellent communication, client service, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple engagements while maintaining a high standard of quality and efficiency.
