We are hoping you will join us as a Financial Analyst II (Accounting) and help shape the future of healthcare where you'll be an integral part of our Accounting team, helping to strive for excellence while we serve our member health with dignity, respecting the value and needs of each of our members through collaboration with our providers, community partners and local stakeholders. As the Financial Analyst II (Accounting) you'll be responsible for supporting teams and completing specialized duties related to financial reconciliation of membership, premium invoicing, and payments from various sources. Additionally, you'll monitor the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) vendor and / or within internal teams, collaborating with cross-departmental teams to resolve payment and membership issues and conduct ad-hoc analysis. Together, we are building a stronger, more equitable health system.
Your Contributions To the Team :
80% - Financial Support
Monitors and responds to internal and external inquiries regarding premium invoicing.
Analyzes over- or under-premium payments and submits findings for leadership review.
Performs research into member premium issues and discrepancies and provides recommendations on solutions.
Resolves payment disputes received from the merchant services vendor and lockbox decisioning items received from bank lockbox to ensure funds are accurately applied to member accounts in a timely manner.
Conducts detailed analysis of refund requests and / or overpayments and processes member refunds.
Collaborates closely with Customer Service on enrollment discrepancies.
Performs verification of internal and external broker commission payments to ensure accuracy of payments.
Prepares month-end reports and / or journal entries for monthly financial and management reporting requirements.
Works with print vendors to create / update premium billing notifications and member notices related to premium payments and ensures accurate interpretation of regulatory requirements.
Collaborates with other departments and external vendors and consistently demonstrates CalOptima Health's organizational values.
15% - Administrative Support
Participates in a mission-driven culture of high-quality performance, with a member focus on customer service, consistency, dignity and accountability.
Assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with others to support short- and long-term goals / priorities for the department.
5% - Other
Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
Do You Have What the Role Requires?
Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field PLUS 3 years of experience in medical group, hospital or health plan setting required; an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position such as those listed above may also be qualifying.
You'll Stand Out More If You Possess the Following :
Experience with premium billings and collections.
Experience working with large data sets and / or SQL.

Our current hiring range is : Pay Grade : 312 - $84,092 - $134,548 ($40.43 - $64.6865). The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
This position is approved for Partial Telework (
