Overview
The district solicits applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors to establish a pool of qualified candidates. This pool allows the division to contact applicants promptly when a need arises.
Representative Duties
Provide a full range of counseling / instructional services at the Indian Wells Valley site in Ridgecrest. Assignment may include services at other campus sites or online for online students.Participate in student recruitment and articulation; maintain subject matter currency; develop and revise curriculum; use computer and multimedia technology; engage in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities.Minimum Qualifications
Must meet the minimum qualifications for both Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) and Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) as defined below.
Counseling : EOPSMaster's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, or the equivalent.
AND (for EOPS) applicable coursework or experience as defined for EOPS counselors hired after October 24, 1987, including specific unit requirements and two years of related occupational experience.Counseling : DSPSMaster's degree in rehabilitation counseling, or related fields such as counseling, guidance counseling, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy (or related with licensure), or equivalent.
AND 15 or more semester units in upper-division or graduate-level coursework related to people with disabilities, or completion of a graduate-level counseling practicum in a post-secondary DSPS program, or two years of related experience.A bachelor's degree plus a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist is an acceptable alternative to the listed DSPS qualifications.Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds and the ability to work with a wide range of students.Knowledge & Abilities
Ability to work effectively with colleagues to promote innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population.Ability to work with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, and goals.Ability to develop curriculum, including delivery via different modalities.Ability to participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Demonstrated ability to maintain subject matter currency and assess student learning outcomes.Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that benefit the program.Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.Special Instructions
