Head of Purchasing & Internal Project Manager

Location : Manchester, Iowa| In-Office

Our client, a local mobile storage service that provides full fabrication solutions tailored to customers needs of customized shipping containers and mobile offices across the Midwest and the continental U.S., is seeking a highly adaptable professional to serve as theHead of Purchasing and Internal Project Manager. This is a unique role at the intersection of purchasing, design, and constructionresponsible for managing the order process between Sales and Fabrication, ensuring every project can move smoothly from concept to execution.

This position requires someone with aconstruction background, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to act as the glue that connects design, purchasing, and production. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities, making this role ideal for someone who thrives invariety, problem-solving, and cross-team collaboration.

While the role carries head of purchasing responsibilities, it also functions as aninternal project manager, ensuring project scope and design are attainable and workable for the fabrication team. For the right candidate, this position can even lean into anengineering functionwhen it comes to design and technical problem-solving.

This is not a sit-behind-the-desk positionyoull be just as comfortable negotiating with vendors and reviewing CAD drawings as you are jumping on a forklift to move a pallet in the fabrication facility when inventory arrives.

Key Responsibilities

• Purchasing Leadership

Lead all purchasing activities, from vendor selection and cost negotiations to material procurement and inventory management.

Act as thebridge between Sales and Fabrication, ensuring project scope, design, and materials are aligned.

Translate sales sketches and concepts intoCAD designs and technical drawings.

Oversee inventory flow and material handling in the warehouse.
