About the Job
Construction Management (CMGT) Teaching Specialists are part-time faculty responsible for instructing courses in Construction Management as contracted by the Undergraduate Applied and Professional Studies (uAPS) unit in the College of Continuing and Professional Studies (CCAPS). They report to the faculty director of the CMGT program and are employed on a semester-by-semester basis, teaching at least once per academic year, either in a full semester (14 weeks) or half semester (7 weeks), with some courses offered once every two years as electives. Responsibilities include teaching, updating course curriculum, supporting program initiatives, participating in professional development, and course development as needed.
Ideal instructors should have extensive professional experience in construction management or related fields such as engineering, architecture, or business. Courses cover topics like documents and contracts, legal and ethical issues, planning, estimating, safety, sustainability, building systems, BIM, cost accounting, LEAN construction, and building codes. This position offers a flexible, hybrid work arrangement, providing a unique opportunity to influence the student experience. The salary ranges from $4,000 to $8,000 per course depending on credits.
