Underwriting Support Manager

The Underwriting Support Manager will oversee an underwriting support team that is the primary point of contact for underwriters and agents / brokers within the team's assigned territory. Works collaboratively with sales, underwriting, other Commercial Lines (CL) management and staff to achieve overall, division, and region goals.

What You'll Do

As an Underwriting Support Manager, you will :

• Manage staff that provide administrative and technical support to, agent / brokers, sales, and underwriters within their assigned territory as well as internal and external support to auditing, premium accounting, and other commercial lines functions. All work is performed while ensuring that deadlines are met and that service and quality standards are attained in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
• Develop procedures and processes and work with staff to ensure their understanding and adherence to defined procedures.
• Oversee the development of staff and implementation of appropriate training and cross-training programs, while encouraging productive teamwork.
• Provide technical expertise in handling sensitive or unusual customer service issues or complaints. Work with other internal departments, operations, or state insurance departments and examiners in the resolution of problems.
• Support the creation and maintenance of procedural manuals used by the team.
• Oversee analysis, creation, and evaluation of internal reports, studies, and notifications to identify, correct, and / or prevent error situations. Anticipate potential system or production problem areas and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct timely performance and salary reviews and ensure all subordinates adhere to human resources policies and practices.
