About the Role
We are looking for experienced Database Engineers / Oracle Database Administrators (DBAs) to join our team in Cary, NC. This role will support a leading financial services client by ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of mission-critical database systems. The ideal candidate will bring deep Oracle expertise along with strong problem-solving skills in enterprise financial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle database environments.
- Manage database security, backup / recovery, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
- Monitor database health and proactively address performance and availability issues.
- Support database design, schema management, and data modeling for new and existing applications.
- Implement and maintain high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and replication strategies.
- Collaborate with application teams to optimize SQL queries and database performance.
- Provide on-call support for production environments as needed.
- Ensure compliance with financial services regulatory and security standards.
- Automate routine tasks through scripting and database tools.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).5+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA or Database Engineer in enterprise-scale environments.Strong expertise in Oracle 12c / 19c (installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting).Proven experience with performance tuning (AWR, ASH, execution plans, indexing strategies).Knowledge of backup / recovery tools such as RMAN and experience with Data Guard.Familiarity with RAC, ASM, and GoldenGate is highly desirable.Experience working in highly regulated industries (financial services preferred).Scripting skills (Shell, Python, or Perl) for automation.Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.Preferred Skills
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS RDS, Oracle Cloud, or Azure Database services).Experience with other database technologies (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.) is a plus.Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.Seniority level
