We are looking for a highly skilled Accountant to join our client's team in New Orleans, Louisiana. This Contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with expertise in federal grant compliance and advanced data analysis. The role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities :
- Manage administration of grants and contracts, preparing budgets, reviewing grant documentation, and approving requisitions and payment requests.
- Prepare invoices and maintain invoice listing database while following up on outstanding receivables and adhering to specific terms of each grant or contract.
- Perform high-volume data entry and validation tasks with precision and efficiency.
- Apply accounting principles, such as debits and credits.
- Collaborate closely with members from internal and external agencies.
- Provide detailed documentation and financial reports.
- Develop and document procedures to enhance the process.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, including debits, credits, and cost allocation methodologies.
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables.
- Strong experience in general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Previous experience working with grants and grant compliance highly preferred.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across multiple departments.
- Familiarity with federal grant guidelines and compliance requirements is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to support audits by providing comprehensive labor documentation and financial reports.
