Duties / Responsibilities :
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers, demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and client service skills.
- Effectively facilitates collaboration amongst team members.
- Effectively communicates with all stakeholders.
- Ensure that the estimating process runs smoothly and efficiently, and client expectations are exceeded throughout the duration of the project(s).
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, bid strategy and presentation meetings.
- Review and incorporate historical data into unit and man-hour figures.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Understand the full scope of the project through document review and asking questions of the design team and owner.
- Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
- Provide complete conceptual (or bid work) and final estimating input on complex projects.
- Ensure quality control of bids and estimates.
- Perform detailed estimating assignments or other support tasks as assigned.
- Create, Solicit and Maintain Subcontractor Bid Lists.
- Support team effort in estimating to achieve departmental common goals.
- Document basis of estimates for all assumptions utilized in the absence of design or specified data.
- Become proficient utilizing the estimating systems.
Required Skills and Abilities :
Ability to communicate and clearly present project information to other team members.Thorough knowledge of GLC Safety Program.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to work under pressure.Extremely detail oriented.Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.Procore, Excel and Word experience preferred.Physical Requirements : Workers must be able to : see well (either naturally or with correction); coordinate the movements of eyes, hands and fingers; use hands, arms and fingers fully; climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at heights as required; and list and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
Education and experience :
BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.2-5 years or work-related experience in estimating and related construction expertise.FLSA - Non-Exempt
