The role supports routine and non-routine microbiology tasks under supervision and contributes to a collaborative team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non-routine tasks under general supervision to the satisfaction of the Supervisor and / or Senior Microbiologist
• Assist in conducting experiments and studies involving various organisms, including pathogens, and Clostridium botulinum
• Use aseptic techniques for microbial transfers
• Apply microbial identification and enumeration techniques
• Accurately perform plate counting on various agars and microorganisms
• Accurately prepare media and reagents; perform tasks such as plate pouring, dilutions, and pipetting
• Perform microscopic observations, including direct microscopic counts, Gram stains, and wet mounts
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure they remain in good working condition
• Assist with labeling, packing, and shipping of materials (e.g., isolates, equipment)
• Identify and report equipment and facility improvement needs to the supervisor
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment
• Follow all relevant SOPs, standard methods, and protocols as instructed
• Maintain accurate and organized laboratory and experimental records
• Communicate effectively with all staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Shift and Compensation

Shift : Tuesdays-Saturdays, 8am-4 : 30pm

Pay : $21 / hour; 5% diff on top of base wage.
