Position duties and responsibilities : This is a specialized and complex position working as a Senior Clerk under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Educator in the Florida Department of Health in Broward County WIC Clinic. The incumbent will provide direct services to clients of the WIC Program in accordance with DHM 150-24; the WIC Procedure Manual. This is a responsible position requiring accuracy and independent judgement. This position is designated as a sensitive position and is required to maintain information in accordance with state and federal statutes, rules, and regulations, as well as of the Florida Department of Health in Broward County Policies, Protocols, and Procedures. This position has been delegated custodial authority for their Program / Unit's information set(s) and / or secured areas(s). Enters client data into the WIC Data System, FL-WISE; completes computer screens accurately; issues benefits, schedules client's appointments and issues special formula. Interviews clients for demographic, financial eligibility, medical data and nutrition history. Instruct participants, individually or in groups, on the redemptive process of WIC benefits, participant's rights and obligations and program procedures. Reconciles inventories with the supervisor for special formula. Delivers low risk secondary nutrition contact to WIC clients following established procedure. Offers voter registration services to all WIC clients, in accordance with the National Voter Registration Act. Distributes and assists with completion of Voter Registration Applications. Keeps informed and implements all federal, state and local WIC policies and procedures. Attends staff meetings, trainings and staff development activities as required. Completes leave, attendance, EARS, travel and any other reports as required and according to established procedures. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum qualifications : Willing to work before, during, and / or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. Applicants will not be accepted from outside of the department. Experience working in a Call Center setting. Experience providing customer service over the telephone or in person. Clerical experience including data entry and scheduling appointments. Bilingual, fluent English / Spanish, or Fluent in English / Creole.
Preferred qualifications : Medical Office front desk experience four (4) or more years. Switchboard experience of four (4) or more years. Ability to verbally communicate and convey information effectively and in a professional manner.
