University of Iowa Health Care Bioengineering Services has an outstanding opportunity to join our team. In this role, under general supervision, you will perform and coordinate clerical work such as examining and evaluating data according to established guidelines requiring a knowledge of both assigned and related work areas. Duties may involve the use of personal computers, computer terminals, and a variety of software and / or conventional office equipment. You may provide functional supervision. This role provides support to Bioengineering Services including writing work orders for incoming equipment, maintain hospital database of medical equipment, phone triage, and interacting with department equipment personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Examines, evaluates and verifies documents such as reports, purchase orders, payrolls, invoices, checks and vouchers, or student files for completeness and accuracy, determining conformity to established guidelines or policies, and personally follows up on discrepancies and resolves problems. Maintains appropriate files.
- Reviews inquiries and provides information regarding policies and procedures requiring knowledge of both assigned and related work areas.
- Prepares, compiles, and maintains records; calculates estimates or billings; and monitors, verifies, and reconciles departmental statements. Recognizes and resolves problems. May prepare cash reports and cash register edits.
- Integrates information and may run routine queries to generate or produce reports.
- Assigns, coordinates and reviews the work of other clerical personnel for conformance to established guidelines.
- Composes correspondence in response to routine inquiries frequently without instruction or review.
- Initiates and processes standardized forms related to area of assignment.
- Write and process work orders for incoming medical equipment.
- Answer department phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding equipment.
- Organize equipment to support efficient workflow.
- Enter new equipment into a database and assign preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.
- Maintain an up-to-date database reflecting department and staff changes.
- Prioritize equipment repairs.
- Process inter-department requisitions for equipment and supplies.
- Coordinate the processing of surplus equipment.
- Order and maintain inventory of office supplies.
- Generate and provide reports as requested by departments.
- Assist with equipment inventory as needed.
- Support cash handling procedures in accordance with department policies.
- Become familiar with and use the Bioengineering software TMA. We can train the employee on its usage.
- May also be required to learn and use Peoplesoft and its associated applications.
- This role will act as a backup to other administrative roles in Bioengineering Services.
Knowledge, Skills, and abilities :

Any combination of related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and / or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to two years of full-time employment.Desired Requirements :
