American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position requiring a compact or ME license and strong medical-surgical skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a Medical Surgical Telemetry unit within a hospital settingUnit includes 44 private and semi-private roomsPatient population includes a wide range of medical diagnoses except primary cardiac patients, such as stroke, COPD, respiratory illnesses, GI bleed, renal failure, electrolyte imbalance, and non-operable fracturesTelemetry monitoring is required for patientsNight shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM with every other weekend requiredRN patient ratios are 1 : 5-6 on nights, may vary with patient acuityRequired to float to any area with Med / Surg Tele patients as neededUses Cerner (EMR experience not required), Alaris, and Pyxis equipmentPrimary responsibilities include managing complex medical surgical patients on telemetry, with skills required for various infusions and acute interventionsPrevious charge nurse experience is highly preferred and those with this experience should indicate willingness to take charge when neededSupport staff includes CNA, charge nurse (no patient assignment), 24 / 7 house supervisor, RT, hospitalist, and therapy services during daysOrientation includes 2 days of hospital training and 1 shift on the unitRequires compliance with flu vaccination policies; medical exemptions are reviewed on a case by case basisProfessional scrubs of any color are allowed; crocs with holes and artificial nails are not permittedNo holiday time off (RTO) is accepted; other RTO must be approved by managerFree parking available in designated areasFirst-time travelers are considered\n \n Requirements\n
Active ME or compact state RN licenseMinimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg Tele RN experience requiredCurrent BLS certification requiredNIHSS and ACLS certifications are preferredStrong skills in reading and interpreting rhythm strips and ability to manage cardiac, insulin, and heparin dripsProficiency with trach care, chest tube management, wound care, IV antibiotics, tube / drain management, IV starts, and central line managementAbility and willingness to float as neededPerm address must be 100+ miles south or southwest of Bangor, MECannot have worked permanently at any Northern Light Health hospital\n Benefits\n
