Overview
The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) is Florida's chief health policy and planning entity. AHCA administers the Florida Medicaid program, licenses and regulates nearly 50,000 health care facilities, and promotes health care transparency. Under the direction of the Agency Secretary, AHCA aims to advance Florida's health care system to be cost-effective, transparent, and high quality.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the quality of health care in Florida. We are seeking an Operations and Management Consultant-I to enhance the delivery of health care services through the Florida Medicaid Program. This position is located in the Bureau of Medicaid Recipient and Provider Assistance (RPA) and reports to the Fort Myers Field Office. The role is not remote or telework and requires reporting to a Field Office or the Tallahassee Headquarters. The starting pay is $2,016.04 biweekly and is non-negotiable.
Responsibilities
- Lead administrative functions including physical facilities, personnel, and financial management.
- Consult with staff to identify concerns and develop solutions within the bureau.
- Inform the chief about problems and policies related to bureau operational issues.
- Coordinate activities with other organizational entities within the bureau.
- Engage in strategic review and revision of bureau policies; develop and implement guidance for staff; provide technical assistance and training; and establish monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the bureau's responsibilities, the Florida Medicaid program, statutes, and applicable rules and regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standardized policies and procedures; communicate and train staff on bureau processes; coordinate budget development and monitoring with the Bureau Chief; stay informed of protocol changes and communicate them timely.
- Oversee personnel and administrative functions, including hiring, disciplinary actions, performance expectations, timesheet approvals, MFMP purchases, invoices, and budgeting for field offices.
- Coordinate field office administrative support, review assignments for grammar and consistency, and ensure alignment with bureau and Agency writing standards.
- Manage assignment coordination, vacancy screenings, scoring processes, and onboarding of new employees; assist with special projects and serve as deputy for administrative meetings when needed.
- Coordinate the bureau outreach team, including quarterly material reviews and approvals of outreach requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred : Experience monitoring operational activities to meet measurable service objectives and ensure compliance with statewide goals.Preferred : Administrative and consultative work involving identifying and resolving operational and management problems for an agency.Preferred : Experience with budget tracking, procurement, human resources, facilities management, and safety procedures.Preferred : Experience collecting data and producing operations reports for management review.Licensure, Certification, or Registration
