The Staff Designer Responsible for designing and drafting civil engineering projects under the guidance of assigned staff. This includes site layout, utility design and profiles, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management. Responsible for the production of civil engineering documents while adhering to client requirements, code requirements, and site adjustments. The Staff Designer would occasionally have interaction with employees outside of their department, rarely have interaction with clients, rarely interact with the public (agencies, government entities, etc.), and rarely participate in selling to clients. The Staff Designer is expected to project a professional presence, representing the Company and the department in a positive light, and have advanced level of software knowledge of at least one (1) engineering software package. This role is not required to have a Professional Engineering license.
Duties & Responsibilities
Establish good communication and working relationships with team members and clients.
Strong desire to learn, ask questions, and maximize knowledge in the field of Civil Engineering
Willing to do what is required for the successful completion project
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, & Experience
Strong knowledge of CAD and other related design tools.
Develop baseline knowledge of state and local regulations
Required Skills / Abilities
PREFERRED - Three (3) years of experience with AutoCAD in civil engineering field with a demonstrated proficiency in the layout, drafting and design with engineers' oversight
Preliminary Site Layout Design experience preferred
Responsive and results-oriented individual that is willing to learn
Demonstrated ability to develop solid working relationships with other team members
Demonstrated ability to schedule work to meet deadlines
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to travel to various project sites.
Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
