THERAPIST / CASE MANAGER
HELPING HAND HOME FOR CHILDREN
GENERAL DESCRIPTION : Dynamic clinical position. The therapist / case manager provides individual, group and family therapy for a caseload of up to 10 children between the ages of 4-14 who have a history of trauma resulting in internalizing and externalizing behaviors within a residential treatment setting. The position also requires clinical case management, clinical coordination and clinical consultation with a variety of stakeholders connected to the child client in addition to other duties as assigned and required by the Director of Clinical Services.
SHIFT / WORK HOURS : 40 hours per week (minimum) and on-call work as needed or required
Pay : From $65,000.00 per year
FLSA STATUS : Exempt

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Maintains appropriate licensure through required annual training and continuing education.
Training requirements are supported through in-house options as well as an allowance for participation in approved CEU attainment, specific training or specialization opportunities relevant to the population served and services provided.
Provides weekly individual, group, and family therapy for assigned cases, documents goals and progress in each child's electronic health record.Clinical involvement from intake through treatment, discharge and aftercare support.Clinical consultation with agency staff as well as the client’s legal team, which can include Parents, Caseworkers, CASA, Attorneys, Judges, Teachers, Extended Family or Familial Supports, and Volunteers.Connects and communicates case information between providers, specialists and other supportive resources including but not limited to healthcare providers, evaluation and assessment professionals, academic support partners, recreational resource supports.Participates in treatment team and case planning meetings, trainings, court and additional engagement opportunities to enhance flow of clinical support into and around the many facets of the child client’s whole health and wellbeing.Develops individualized treatment plans and facilitates ongoing treatment plan reviews focused on evaluation of goals, interventions, and progress over the course of a client’s treatment process and in line with ethical and contractual standards of care.Provides direct care and transportation of children as needed.Provides in-person, phone or video conference consultations in the event of a crisis, as needed.Is trained in and can provide authorized management of aggressive behavior techniques as needed.Assists in the orientation and training of new employees; and assists in the presentation of in-service training when assigned.The safety of children and staff is our primary focus.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Master's degree in social work or equivalent human services advanced degree.Clinical Licensure by the Department of Human Services as an LCSW or LPC certification (or on track to become licensed within 6 months of beginning employment).Certification in (or training and supervision towards) an evidence-based model endorsed by managed care preferredPlay Therapy, TF-CBT, EMDR, OtherMinimum of one year of experience working with children with complex emotional and behavioral symptoms in a residential treatment setting is preferred.Willing to operate from an informed, client centered and strengths-based approach- (Trauma-Informed, Culturally Informed, and Developmentally Informed). Additional training, educational focus or experience in these areas is preferred.Will participate in the credentialing process to become contracted with the STAR Health managed care organization (for Medicaid-covered services).Hold current Texas Driver's License.Consent to Background Check, Fingerprinting, TB test or chest x-ray, First Aid and CPR certification or obtain within 30-days of assuming duties (provided by agency)Be physically able to use authorized management of aggressive behavior techniques.Be at least 18 years of age.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Clinical and diagnostic skills to effectively provide case management and therapeutic services to a caseload of children with emotional and behavioral disorders.Ability to maintain relevant knowledge of the treatment plan and special needs of each child on their caseload; to fulfill assigned portions of the child's individualized treatment plan; to use approved behavior modification techniques and disciplines according to policy; to assist in the assessment of newly admitted children; and to interact with the children with unconditional positive regard, authenticity and attunement to help them navigate healing from trauma and growing into their whole health potential.Ability to serve as a positive role model for children and direct care staff at the Home; to interact therapeutically with the children and to ensure their emotional wellbeing and physical safety; to follow the Home's policy on confidentiality and Child Abuse and Neglect and related state laws.Develop knowledge of the policies and procedures of the Helping Hand Home for Children and the Department of Family and Protective Services minimum standards for residential treatment facilities.Become proficient in STAR Health services to ensure that children maximize benefits based on eligibility and meeting medical necessity criteria for services.Ability to prioritize and respond to the needs of the children; to effectively use time to ensure that assigned tasks are completed within designated time frames.Ability to work cooperatively and productively with supervisor and co-workers; to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team; to maintain professional relationships; to resolve conflicts appropriately and use proper chain of command when communicating.Ability to grow professionally and to learn new skills; to accept constructive feedback and modify behavior accordingly.Ability to work in a stressful and occasionally unpredictable environment; skill in handling crisis situations without overreaction or loss of objectivity.Job Type : Full-time / Salaried
