Veterinary Assistant – Internal Medicine – Advanced Veterinary Specialists Compensation range :

  • $18.00 - $26.00 hr.  primarily determined by role and experience level.   Advanced Veterinary Specialists, located in scenic Santa Barbara, is a premier specialty and emergency veterinary hospital committed to providing exceptional care to pets in need.
  • We offer a range of specialized services, including internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, oncology, and emergency care, delivered by a team of dedicated professionals.
  • We are currently seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our Internal Medicine team.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with our board-certified Internists to provide high-quality care to patients with complex medical conditions.

As a Veterinary Assistant in the Internal Medicine department, you be responsible for the following duties :

  • Provide compassionate care and monitoring for animals admitted to the internal medicine department Assist with a variety of diagnostic procedures Communicate effectively with pet owners, offering guidance on their animal's condition and treatment options.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure equipment is properly maintained and sterilized.
  • Assist veterinarians during procedures such as biopsies and aspiration cytology.
  • Collaborate closely with other veterinary professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Advocate for the well-being of patients, ensuring they receive appropriate care and treatment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Compensation range :

  • $18.00 - $26.00 hr.  primarily determined by role and experience level.

    • Work schedule :

  • 4 / 10 work week, Friday & Saturday + 2 additional rotating days a week Weekend and holiday flexibility required.

    • Basic required qualifications :

  • General understanding and experience with small animal restraint with a focus on cats and dogs High school diploma Calm, professional demeanor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable time management and problem-solving skills; working efficiently and effectively throughout the hospital.
  • Multi-task various duties and responsibilities in a timely and reliable manner, with appropriate follow-through and accuracy.
  • Understand and follow established hospital processes and procedures (i.e.
  • SOPs) Able to work well independently as well as with a team.
  • Basic understanding of veterinary medical terminology.

    • Preferred qualifications :

  • Enrolled in a veterinary technology program.
  • Clinical experience working / interning in a veterinary hospital.
