Description : Essential Functions
Reviews patients general history form.
Performs a series of ophthalmic tests and documents results for physician review. Performs additional testing as requested by the physician.
Instills medication upon physician’s request.
Performs generalized maintenance, cleaning, and basic repair of equipment.
Coordinates and schedules surgeries and keeps surgeon apprised of surgery schedule. Educates patients on upcoming surgeries.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
Assist patients. Remain calm when handling distraught patients. Position requires a great deal of walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies.
It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day. Lifting up to 30 pounds may occasionally be required, depending on the specific style or type of care provided and must be able to push / pull a patient in a wheelchair.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as fax machine, copier and multiple types of Ophthalmic equipment.
Must be able to exchange accurate information with other care team members and providers.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position other than occasional travel to corporate sites regarding employee relations issues.
Requirements :
Required Education and Experience
Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology.
