We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Berkeley, California. The ideal candidate will oversee financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards. This role requires strong expertise in accounting systems, leadership skills, and a commitment to supporting non-profit financial objectives.

Responsibilities :

• Lead all accounting operations, including month-end close, audits, and financial reporting.
• Ensure full compliance with healthcare grants, contracts, and financial reporting requirements.
• Prepare and interpret monthly financial statements to support leadership in strategic decision-making.
• Supervise, train, and guide a team of 3–4 accounting professionals, fostering collaboration and excellence.
• Oversee annual audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure accuracy and accountability.
• Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting to maintain strong financial health.
• Strengthen internal controls and uphold accounting policies consistent with nonprofit standards.
• Utilize MIP Abila accounting software (experience preferred but not required).
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
• 4+ years of nonprofit accounting experience, ideally within healthcare.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare grants, contracts, and compliance regulations.
• Proven experience managing month-end close processes in nonprofit or healthcare environments.
• Skilled in leading and mentoring a team of 3–4 accounting staff.
• Proficient in accounting systems; MIP Abila experience a plus.
• Advanced Excel capabilities with strong accuracy and attention to detail.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
