Warehouse Worker

Warehouse workers perform an array of functions that might include accepting and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing, and retrieving stock in the warehouse.

Warehouses are fast-paced and work around pickups from LTL and truck load carriers, and also customer pickups. In addition, to pickups, product deliveries from suppliers and vendors will have to be received, inventoried and put in proper storage locations.

Workers are required to lift from 45 pounds to a maximum of 75 pounds on a regular basis, walk or stand for most of the shift, wear protective gear and steel-toed shoes. Warehouse workers operate forklifts, staplers, phones, faxes, and computers inclusive of Microsoft applications.

Reporting : Warehouse workers report directly to the Warehouse Manager and indirectly to the Operations Manager and / or General Manager.

Duties : Typical duties will include loading and unloading trucks, receiving products, and picking, packing, wrapping, labeling, and / or shipping products.

Warehouse worker will maintain shipping and receiving paperwork and makes sure that incoming and outgoing products and material are in good condition.

In addition, must maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping all areas of the warehouse including work stations neat, clean, and organized.

Warehouse workers interact with many departments in the course of doing their jobs, which consists of much more than moving products. They play an important part in controlling costs by assuring that materials are safety stored, and accounted for, and will be in contact with customers or drivers on a daily basis.

Required skills and training

Education : Warehouse workers need a secondary school diploma or equivalency to be hired. They will need to offer proof of competency in driving a forklift.

Experience : While there are job opportunities for Warehouse Workers with no experience, many jobs require two or more years of experience.

Skills and Certifications : Warehouse workers need to be attentive to detail, have good planning and time management skills, and be willing to assume a variety of tasks to keep the warehouse functioning. High school diploma or equivalent certification.

Minimum 1 year of experience.

Must pass Background Check and Drug Screen.
