Overview
Disabilities Coordinator - Head Start / Early Head Start – Fayetteville, NC. This position is full-time / non-exempt with travel required. Closing Date : Open until filled.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate activities and services for children with disabilities and ensure inclusive services for Head Start and Early Head Start Programs.
- Identify individual needs, create a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment that enables all children to succeed.
- Ensure services meet Head Start Performance Standards, North Carolina Day Care Licensing requirements, IDEA regulations, and agency policies.
- Collaborate with community agencies to recruit eligible children with special needs to meet the 10% enrollment requirement.
- Observe, coach, mentor, and provide technical assistance on teacher-child interactions, social-emotional practices, curriculum fidelity, and responsive learning environments.
- Review files for children with disabilities, coordinate evaluations, and confer with parents, coordinators, and staff as needed.
- Coordinate with service area staff and educational institutions to ensure proper placement and related services; arrange follow-up evaluations as needed.
- Coordinate referrals to service providers; monitor follow-up activities; maintain confidential records; participate in IEP / IFSP development; integrate goals into lesson plans.
- Assist with contracts for services to children, and serve as liaison between Head Start and professionals, including the LEA.
- Facilitate MDT meetings, case conferences, and parent-teacher conferences; participate in IEP / IFSP transition planning.
- Plan and coordinate staff and parent training; prepare and disseminate materials.
- Monitor progress toward objectives and evaluate disabilities and mental health activities; enter data into ChildPlus; submit reports to Health Services Manager.
- Assist in annually reviewing agency SOPs with related coordinators; support planning for mental health / disabilities training for Head Start management and staff.
- Maintain current knowledge of curriculum, social-emotional practices, and regulatory requirements; stay informed about applicable laws and standards.
- Assist with Non-Federal Share match collection; adhere to Employee and Parent Codes of Conduct.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor\'s Degree in Special Education, Psychology, Early Childhood Education or Social Work.
Experience : One to three years related experience working with preschool children / infants and toddlers with disabilities.
General Requirements : Obtain and keep current certifications / licenses / physicals; valid driver\'s license; annual negative TB tests; annual physical; Crisis Prevention / Intervention certification preferred.
Other Requirements : Thorough knowledge of services for children with disabilities; ability to work with minimal supervision; own reliable transportation with proof of insurance and annual inspection; pass criminal background check and substance abuse tests; maintain CBC qualification letters with NC DHHS; ability to communicate effectively and work with diverse people; Spanish language skills desirable.
