Responsibilities

  • Edit technical documents to ensure compliance with spelling, grammar and punctuation, style, layout and specification requirements.
  • Collaborate with task / team leads, writers, engineers, and instructors, to publish and deliver documents.
  • Develop templates based on style guides to adhere to military specifications and standards of technical writing.
  • Perform Desktop Publishing tasks for all program technical data products and publish materials in hardcopy and electronic formats.

Basic Qualifications – Level 2

  • Bachelor\'s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field, 2-5 years of technical editing experience.
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in creating and modifying templates, style sheets, and formats.
  • Experience with structured (HTML, SGML, or XML, and S1000 or DITA) content.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE 100) specification.
  • Self-motivated with good problem solving and organization skills.
  • U.S. Citizen with DoD Secret clearance (or higher).

    • Basic Qualifications – Level 3

  • Bachelor\'s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field, 5-10 years of technical editing experience, 3 years experience with Master\'s.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in creating and modifying templates, style sheets, and formats.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience editing page-based and structured (HTML, SGML, and XML, and S1000D and DITA) content.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience with structured technical data.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent problem solving and organization skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance (or higher).

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience with structured authoring applications, such as : MadCap, FrameMaker, or Arbortext.
  • Experience with Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE 100).
  • Member of the Society for Technical Communicators (STC).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS / SCI).
