Responsibilities Position is in a 20-bed Intensive Care Unit within an acute care hospital setting Typical patient conditions include sepsis, DKA, hyperglycemia, COPD, cardiac services, GI bleeds, and post-surgical recovery Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2 in ICU; may take 4-5 patients when floating Uses Cerner EMR system; telemetry monitoring performed with GE equipment Requires floating to med-surg and telemetry units, with travelers prioritized to float Common procedures include management of Vents, ABCDE bundle, versed, propofol, norepinephrine Shift is 12-hour days with every other weekend and at least two major holidays required Travelers may care for ICU patients in the Emergency Department as needed Orientation includes two shifts in ICU and one on the floor No nurse aides on unit; charge nurse serves as resource and does not take patients All staff must wear navy scrubs as dress code Vents managed by in-house respiratory therapists available 24 / 7 Must be comfortable accepting full patient loads when floating Holiday rotations require working two out of three major holidays, with at least one holiday off First-time travelers will be considered Cannot have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year except as PRN through an outside firm Requirements Active CA RN license required at the time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required Current certifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; CCRN and critical care course preferred Ability to read and interpret own telemetry strips Strong IV insertion and management skills necessary Professional references : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-627332.
