Location
This position is based out of Lenexa, KS. We do offer relocation assistance to that location. We will consider candidates near one of our remote offices (Houston, Raleigh, Atlanta, Charlotte, Phoenix).
Responsibilities
Lead electrical designs for Power Generation projects, utilizing applicable local and national engineering codes. Designs include equipment and systems layout, duct bank, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding and lighting design, from concept to completion utilizing engineering documents, sketches and vendor data.Lead project, hands on with the design, lead other designers on the team, providing mentoring and training and growth opportunities. Perform forecasting, scheduling and budgeting functions for your projects, and provide project progression updates to leadership.Coordinate with project team by utilizing the Project Database : Request for Review Process, Holds List, ECN, Request for information from other disciplines, and all other applicable functions.Develop 3D models utilizing drawings, sketches, and design skills. Check and navigate in the 3D models for interferences and constructability.Route electrical cables in a 3D environment to generate a cable schedule.Model electrical components using vendor submittals and electrical designs.Perform calculations to check allowable fill in conduits and cable tray systems according to NEC requirements and size pull boxes.Perform calculations to size pull boxes according to NEC requirements.Gather information needed to develop design and verify voltage separation requirements are met.Create plan drawings and details for electrical deliverables.Analyze, inspect, and construct designs while adhering to electrical quality standards and department procedures.Check design for consistency, safety, operability, and maintenance requirements before submitting to checking.Resolve checked drawings; prove and understand comments made.Complete miscellaneous tasks to support project development.Act as a field resource to assist construction in field resolution on issues.Qualifications
At least 10 years' experience in electrical design preferably in the Power Generation industry or from Oil & Gas / Petrochemical. Must have significant 3D modeling experience and leading other designers in electrical plant equipment / systems design. Experience must include duct bank design, embeds, grounding, cable trays, lighting, conduit, circuit routing in 3D environment, heat trace, drawings, schematics, P&ID's, power plans and experience with clash detection.Experience utilizing 3D programs such as Smartplant3D (SP3D), MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, AVEVA, Plant3D, OpenPlant or similar 3D programs, and experience / knowledge of the latest computer operating systems.Must have experience conceptualizing designs in a 3D environment.Experience working multi-discipline team environment while mentoring, training and developing other designers on a project.Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight. Must have experience leading and managing a project, including project scope / schedule and budget and forecasting.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Other Requirements
