Manhattan Youth is looking for a full-time After-school Assistant Site Director to join our dedicated team.
The Assistant Site Director is responsible for supporting the Program Director with the supervision and daily operations of their assigned after-school program and plays a critical role in Manhattan Youth’s ability to deliver high-quality after-school enrichment programs. Alongside the Program Director, Assistant Directors provide hands-on leadership and direction for after-school staff, engage in direct supervision of children, and collaborate with After-school teachers to develop age-appropriate curriculum, activities and projects across a range of areas including sports, arts, academic enrichment, and leadership. Daily job duties are divided between administrative responsibilities and on-site supervision of after-school programming.
This is an on-site, full-time non-exempt hourly position at an NYC public school located in Manhattan, following a Monday through Friday 10 : 30am-6 : 30pm schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site and hands-on daily supervision (2-6pm) of Manhattan Youth’s age appropriate after-school activities (sports, arts, STEM and other academic enrichment, leadership)
- Assist in development of after-school curricula and special events
- Assist Program Director with hiring, training, evaluation and development of after-school staff
- Ensure safety of groups of children during classroom activities, recreation and field trips, address emergency situations and disciplinary issues, and maintain incidence logs
- Handle discipline issues for children and staff
- Maintain open and regular communication with school principal, faculty, PTA, staff, students and parents
- Lead weekly staff meetings and professional development trainings when necessary
- Manage after-school club enrollment, assignments and changes for participants, and track club attendance
- Coordinate program / staff schedules to meet needs of comprehensive after-school programming and DOE requirements and ensure coverage when staff members are absent
- Manage and track after-school equipment, consumables, supplies and snack inventory
- Perform all job-related duties as assigned and needed
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
4-year university degree in education or a related field preferred, plus 3 years after-school, education and / or childcare experienceStrong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and correct conduct and performance of adults and childrenAbility to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressureExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to maintain the confidentiality of all recordsStrong computer skills – including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, OneDrive), Zoom, ATS, scheduling softwareKnowledge of or ability to master employee scheduling and newsletter applicationsAbility to take initiative, maintain tact and diplomacy, use sound judgment, anticipate issues and thoughtfully handle unanticipated eventsStrong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detailBenefits
