Position Overview
Develop and oversee the execution of a meaningful ATV Trek program developing leadership, character, knowledge, and fitness for ATV participants of varying ability levels in an ATV trek.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide 10-12 riders through weeklong ATV trek consisting of ~50-80 miles
- Coach and instruct riders of all levels to safely operate ATVs
- Teach riders to overcome fears and provide feedback to better their experience
- Conduct daily inspections and inventory of equipment and perform basic ATV maintenance
- Guarantee that all riders are properly trained and documented
- Perform off road motor vehicle rescues and render first aid as needed.
- Assist with the set up and takedown of the ATV facilities and equipment
- Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
- Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
- Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
- Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook
Qualifications
Minimum age : 18+ Guides | 21+ InstructorsRequired : Complete "Wilderness First Aid" (training provided)Required for 21+ : Complete ASI trainer course (training provided)Required : Experience riding ATVs and / or teaching / guiding off road vehiclesWilling to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communicationPhysical & Practical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and ride up to 9 hours daily and ability to lift / move up to 60 poundsComplete the Annual Health and Medical Record , including height / weight guidelinesHousing : 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform : Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours : 5-6 day trekDesired Traits
