Position Overview
Provide skateboarding instruction and supervision to participants of varying ability levels to improve their skateboarding skills. Assist in the execution of meaningful skateboard / BMX programs to develop leadership, character, and fitness.
Key Responsibilities
- Present a skateboarding program through cheerful, helpful, and efficient service
- Demonstrate skillful wheel sports abilities to intentionally and cheerfully teach novice riders in BMX / skate
- Assist in the set up and takedown of BMX / skate facilities
- Ensure the safety of all riders in skateboard / BMX activities
- Turn paperwork into supervisor accurately and timely
- Maintenance of Skate / BMX equipment and facilities
- Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
- Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
- Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
- Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook
Qualifications
Minimum age : 18+Preferred : Experience teaching or riding skateboardingPreferred : Experience maintaining skateboards or skateparksWilling to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communicationPhysical & Practical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and bike up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift / move up to 50 poundsComplete the Annual Health and Medical Record , including height / weight guidelinesHousing : 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform : Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours : 45-55Desired Traits
