Job Description

St. Louis County is hiring two (2) dedicated and compassionate Social Workers for the following service areas :

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team (Virginia, MN) :

Social Workers on the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team provide person-centered, comprehensive, community-based, intensive case management support & services to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness (primary diagnoses of Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective Disorder).

Services are delivered a minimum of 2-3 days per week by a close-knit, multi-disciplinary team. The team is mobile, provides services Monday - Friday 8 : 00 a.m. - 4 : 30 p.m. and there is an on-call rotation.

Community Re-Entry Team (Duluth, MN) :

We are looking for a highly motivated, self-directed professional with the ability to think critically.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, as well as the capacity to work independently and collaboratively with probation services.  This position will be engaged with multiple intersections of the criminal justice and public safety systems to support successful community reentry.

This is a grant funded position providing re-entry case management. This Social Worker will work with a Probation Officer as part of a team addressing the complex needs of individuals reintegrating into society after repeated periods of incarceration. Responsibilities include professional work performing assessments, intervention, case management and person-centered advocacy byproviding support in areas such as housing, employment, mental health, and substance use.

The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2025.

The full salary range, including longevity for Social Worker is $27.70 - $41.73 per hour.

The full salary range, including longevity for Social Worker (MSW) $30.14 - $45.75 per hour.

This position is part of the  Merit Basic Unit Employees Collective Bargaining Agreement Contract  represented by Council 5 of AFSCME.

An employee in this class is responsible for providing social work services on cases involving complex social problems and social treatment plans.  Duties include performing responsible and difficult casework, directing service programs or providing work direction to paraprofessional staff.  Child Protection Services (CPS) Social Workers are assigned social work cases involving voluntary and non-voluntary child protective service cases.  The work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.

SOCIAL WORKER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass / Fail) :

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or closely related field; OR graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in any field AND one (1) year of full-time paid verifiable experience as a social worker in a public or private social services agency.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
