When will I work?

The primary work hours for this position are 12 : 00pm to 8 : 30pm, Monday through Friday.

This position is located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as part of our Repair Center & Materials department.

People Development, Hiring, and Staffing :

  • Plan and have daily interactions with all direct reports to help them achieve and exceed our High Standard of Performance by setting clear and specific expectations and reinforcing desired behaviors.
  • Provide regular and timely feedback on performance to direct reports.
  • Perform timely and objective performance evaluations as defined by our Performance Development Cycle standard.
  • Create and facilitate individual development plans for each direct report to develop their skills using a Skills Matrix, Job Instructions, and other established training resources.
  • Facilitate and promote movement both within and outside the home factory to foster our commitment to stable employment.
  • Participate as part of a collaborative interview team and select individuals who demonstrate the potential to meet and exceed our High Standard of Performance.
  • Work with Manager and HR on staffing levels to meet current and anticipated demand while considering improvements that lead to further productivity gains.

    • Running the Business :

  • Perform daily safety audits to ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures, address hazards that arise through problem solving, and participate in monthly safety meetings and safety audits in order to provide a safe work environment.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the shipping department to ensure efficient and timely delivery of products to customers.
  • Create production plans with Production Team / Line Leads for required work, including staffing levels and assignments and hourly and daily goals, in order to effectively meet customer demand.
  • Learn and maintain stable work processes by occasionally performing each job and regularly observing and auditing each process.
  • Regularly perform leader standard work tasks as part of our Lean Management System, including lead and participate in tier meetings, monitor production using visual controls, audit processes to verify standards are followed and cycle times are met, and ensure product is built to meet quality specifications.
  • Be available, respond swiftly to escalations, and provide direction and / or action to resolve or escalate further for help in order to effectively support production operations.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities to address any shipping-related issues or delays and find quick and effective solutions to minimize disruptions.
  • Make decisions based on internal and external customer need or value as well as overall cost impact to the company.
  • Perform value-adding work as needed to meet customer demand.

    • Improving the Business :

  • Lead and actively participate in Daily Problem Solving and Two Second Lean activities.
  • Lead and / or actively participate in larger improvement projects within areas of responsibility.
  • Drive change to eliminate waste in areas of responsibility in the pursuit of continuous improvement.
  • Communicate and promote changes and their importance to build consensus among the team and internal stakeholders.
  • Foster an environment of daily problem solving by developing direct reports to be effective problem solvers.

    • Qualifications

    To be considered for the Production Supervisor position, we require the following :

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Emphasis on Engineering (Manufacturing), Industrial Management, Business, Operations Management, or comparable degrees preferred.
  • Supervision experience preferred. Demonstrated leadership ability required.
  • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Physical Requirements include the ability to : Work in an environment with these types of smells : paint, solvent, and solder. Frequently move materials weighing 35 pounds and occasionally to frequently move materials weighing 45 pounds. Remain in a stationary position for the full shift. Work from heights, including working from ladders and platforms. Have a full range of motion (i.e., bending, lifting, reaching, working repetitively with some small parts). Reach in all directions (up, down, side-to-side, and diagonal reaching), including awkward positions. Maintain steady hand / eye coordination. Distinguish and identify wire and paint colors. Read fine print.
  • Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver's license. Must be able to meet and maintain Daktronics Qualified Driver status. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
