Deputy Director Of Real Estate-dbpr
The Deputy Director reports directly to the Director of the Division of Real Estate and is primarily responsible for the management and supervision of the day-to-day operations of Board and Commission support, customer service and support, Operations Support Unit "Tier N" section and the daily division operations when the director is absent. The position is located in Tallahassee, Florida.
Your Specific Responsibilities :
- Reports to the Director of the Division of Real Estate in Orlando, Florida.
- Serves as a Department liaison between the Division of Real Estate's Orlando office and DBPR / Tallahassee.
- Responsible for the management and supervision of the Orlando Licensing and Education Sections of the Division of Real Estate. Serves as a liaison between CIU / Tallahassee and BET / Tallahassee for licensing and education issues.
- Supervises 15 employees ranging from administrative assistants to supervisors.
- Handles issues and complaints from the public, Legislative Affairs, Communications, the Inspector General's Office, Secretary's Office, and the Governor's Office in a timely and efficient manner in less than 48 hours.
- Analyzes and reviews legislation and statutes from Legislative Affairs and provides feedback and written analysis and impact on the Division of Real Estate and the real estate profession.
- Recommends policy and operational changes to improve processes within the Division and DBPR.
- Understands Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Code, Public Records, Sunshine Laws, JAPC, Rulemaking, DOAH.
- Works well in a team environment and enjoys working with other people.
- Collects, evaluates, and analyzes data to develop recommendations, solve problems and provide concise summaries to the Secretary's Office.
- Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships with other DBPR staff and the Florida Real Estate Commission and the Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board.
- Works well in a team environment and enjoys working with other people.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Ability to prioritize and manage several simultaneous projects under deadline.Completes projects on time.Ability to communicate effectively and positively with others.Knowledge of relevant Florida Statutes such as F.S. 455, 475 and FAC 61J1 and 61J2, department policies, and applicable procedures.Knowledge of Versa Regulation, OnBase, and People First programs.Skills to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in order to accomplish the department's mission.Ability to explain complex legal issues and communicate well with government officials, employees, and citizens.Ability to motivate and inspire excellence in others.Minimum Requirements :
Applicant must have 3 years of management experience in a state or federal, regulatory or licensure program.Preferred :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 1 year of professional experience OR a combination of post high school education and professional experience equal to 5 years.
Preference will be given to applicants with a Juris Degree with background in administrative or criminal law and who are a member in good standing with The Florida Bar for at least 5 years.
