Sr. Director Nursing Operations
Provides primary direction and leadership across multi-disciplinary nursing operational activities. Guides multiple nursing departments within a functional area or across several functional areas. May be responsible for nursing operations for a major geographic market / area, defined by geography, functional activity, transaction type, or specialist expertise that delivers a major impact to the organization's nursing operations. Executes and enables the strategy set by management and integrates policy across several nursing departments. Identifies significant improvement opportunities, innovation opportunities, and facilitates cross-business unit initiatives. Possesses significant freedom to act in the medium term and contributes to strategic policy decisions. This role also provides strategic direction for nursing operations, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and client expectations, and serves as a key interface with external stakeholders.
The role has a collaborative relationship with Nursing Directors who provide operational leadership oversight and guide nursing care model evolution. It is expected that this individual will have a deep knowledge of nursing care delivery and in home infusion services and understanding of models within a risk-based payment and value-based care model. The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for planning, coordinating, directing, and monitoring all operational and financial KPIs.
Develops new nursing operations procedures and systems and enhances existing processes to achieve optimal efficiency.
The Sr. Director will actively participate in client-facing activities, including RFP responses and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with payor and pharma clients, representing nursing capabilities and performance. Accountable for maintaining performance standards across quality, cost, and service dimensions, ensuring operational excellence and client satisfaction.
Essential Job Functions
- Accountable for function and performance of daily nursing operations, working closely with Sr. Leadership team, Product, Nursing, and Operational leaders to support the day-to-day nursing activities (nursing operations includes activities relating to the delivery of care and supporting business activities)
- Represent Nursing in externally facing engagements, including client meetings, Requests for Proposal (RFP) presentations, and Quarterly Business Review (QBR) discussions, ensuring alignment with client expectations and enterprise strategy.
- Drive and execute the pharmacy strategy and operating plan with a focus on enabling nursing activities and performance (focus on connections to and operations of physical sites of care and value-based care enablement from a nursing operations perspective)
- Accountable for designing, implementing, and evaluating nursing operating activities to drive efficiencies across the businesses
- Optimize nursing operations to ensure high provider productivity, access to care, quality of care, patient retention, and experience
- Design, implement, and continuously improve operating model across the lines of business / products / service to improve strategic, financial, performance, and growth outcomes for all while supporting delivery of high-quality patient care
- Lead cross-functional development of a strategic growth plan that will help drive quality, collaboration, and excellence within a nursing operating environment
- Structure / nursing model and design operating roadmap
- Electronic Health Records (EHR)
- Practice Partners / design workflows / handoffs
- Support product / tech roadmap prioritization for nursing operations
- Optimize nursing operations, finances, and customer service levels; develop and execute long-range, strategic, and operational plans for nursing activities; measure success through key performance metrics, including productivity and quality, partnering as a dyad with Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for holistic outcomes
- Enhance the quality, access, safety, and efficiency of patient services and increase patient satisfaction with a focus on performance excellence and high reliability
- Represent Nursing in externally facing connections with Clients, Pharma, Account Management
Education and Experience
Active, unencumbered RN licenseMSN or MBA strongly preferred10+ years of progressive leadership experience in nursing operations or healthcare delivery, including 5+ years in multi-site leadership roles.Experience in client-facing roles, including participation in RFP / QBR processes, strongly preferred.Excellent leadership skills including ability to think strategically and execute for resultsProven ability to innovate and drive large organization changeExperience working in a large highly matrixed organization, with proven ability to develop internal enterprise relations, and external relationshipsExcellent presentation and communication skillsStrong business and financial background with a sense of urgency and a desire to achieve top line results
