Job Summary

Position Summary

  • Coordinates all aspects of Behavioral Health billing, coding, and collections with external business partners. Acts as the liaison with the Home Health & Hospice departments of Hunterdon Health to optimize revenue.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary liaison with external business partners for Behavioral Health coding, billing, and collections.
  • Collaborates with Finance on month-end closing processes and distribution of financial reports and metrics.
  • Communicates with Behavioral Health departments regarding billing and coding requirements due to payer inquiries or denials. Monitors Huron Worklist / Outpatient denials to facilitate claim corrections, appeals, and authorization issues.
  • Checks insurance eligibility monthly and coordinates with registration staff to ensure accurate billing information.
  • Reviews daily billing to ensure all charges are accurately captured.
  • Interacts with patients and guarantors regarding liabilities and billing questions. Responds to inquiries about insurance coverage and payments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Qualifications

    Minimum Education :

  • Required : High School Diploma or equivalent; Certificate and / or advanced specialized or technical training in a relevant field.
  • Preferred : Associate's Degree in Business Administration.

    • Minimum Experience :

  • Required : 1 year of outpatient medical billing experience.
  • Preferred : Two years' experience in a hospital or physician billing / coding environment; experience with Windows-based software; customer service background; knowledge of Medicare and payer requirements.

    • Licenses / Certifications :

  • Preferred : Certifications such as Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist - Institutional (CRCS-I) or Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist - Professional (CRCS-P) through AAHAM.

    • Skills and Abilities :

  • Required : Computer skills, customer service skills.
  • Preferred : Attention to detail, bookkeeping skills, team player attitude.
