Job Details

General Summary : Under general supervision of the Store Manager, manage the Perishable Departments including produce, fresh meat, packaged meats, dairy, frozen food, bread, and bakery products. Assist Store Manager with inventory management, merchandise presentation, and quality customer service. Ensure a safe working environment and protect company assets according to required procedures. Ensure staff and store compliance with food handling rules and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through strict cash accountability and adherence to company security practices.
• Follow company policies and procedures outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures manual, Employee Handbook, and company communications.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using tools like Current Ads, Produce Order guide, Fresh Meat Recap, Milk Sales history, Vendor Order Guide, and Bread order planning.
• Train assigned associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for all perishable areas.
• Train associates in proper and safe handling of food in compliance with rules and regulations.
• Record perishable markdowns, analyze causes, and take corrective actions.
• Accurately record inventory levels as requested by the Store Support Center.
• Maintain daily contact with customers to understand merchandise expectations and desires.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and train associates in the Cleaning Schedule.
• Assist with other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Ability to read and interpret documents, perform mathematical calculations, and learn cash register functions. Knowledge of cash handling, facility and safety control policies, inventory management, and merchandising practices. Good organization skills, effective interpersonal and communication skills, understanding of safety policies, and ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance. Ability to obtain required certifications in food handling.

Work Experience & / or Education : High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred. One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred. Previous lead experience and / or grocery store experience preferred. Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

New Hire Starting Pay Range : $19.31 - $19.81
