A facility in Johnson City, NY is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse for a 13-week night assignment in the Main Tower ED. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned traveler with 3 or more years of current ED experience and specialized knowledge in the management of complex cases, including Trauma, STEMI, Stroke, Sepsis, and Pediatric care . This role requires compliance with all standards of practice and a commitment to patient-centered care within a highly acute environment.
Roles & Responsibilities :
The Registered Nurse is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing patient health in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, UHS policies, and the Emergency Nursing Association Scope and Standards of Practice. Key responsibilities include :
Patient Care Management : Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate comprehensive nursing care for a designated group of patients, often serving as the primary or accountable nurse.Specialty Care Expertise : Utilize advanced knowledge to manage patients presenting with Trauma, Acute Coronary Syndrome (STEMI), Cerebrovascular Accidents (Stroke), Sepsis , and various Pediatric emergencies .Medication Administration : Maintain a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administer medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.Professional Standards : Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and actively participate in and support the Nursing Shared Governance Model and peer review.Education & Advocacy : Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management, and serve as an advocate in the care of individuals and families.Leadership : Perform duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned.Mandatory Requirements :
Experience : 3+ years of current ED experience is required.Traveler Experience : Previous traveler experience is required.Clinical Knowledge : Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Trauma, STEMI, Stroke, Sepsis, and Pediatric care .Education : Minimum Associate's degree from an accredited school of Nursing . A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.Licensure : Current New York State Registered Nurse License .Certifications : BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross) is mandatory. ACLS Certification is also required (listed in Schedule Notes).Preferred Skills & Certifications
Preferred : Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN).Preferred : Professional certification in a related nursing specialty (e.g., CEN, CCRN).Preferred : Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.Requisition # : 36493529
