The Opportunity
- Function as a technical specialist or lead substation design professional in EHV transmission systems.
- Under general direction, develop and apply advanced engineering techniques to complex problems.
- Provide technical guidance to a group or supervise engineering staff on substation design projects.
- Lead other engineers and interface directly with clients; oversee execution and quality of substation projects as a team leader.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited program.Minimum of 8 years related work experience.Pre-employment requirements may include background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, as applicable by law.Preferred Qualifications
Power / Power Systems experience preferred; EHV substation design experience (physical & P&C).Quality Assurance / Quality Control of EHV substation design projects.Technical experience, complex research, and recommendations for equipment / materials selection.Prepare one-lines, connection diagrams, panel elevations, protection & control schematics; sizing calculations; wiring diagrams for relaying panels.Substation engineering calculations (lightning protection, conduit fill, station service loading, surge arresters, voltage drop).Prepare RTU control lists, raceway / cable schedules, maintenance signage, nameplates; design equipment arrangements, grounding, foundations, and conduits.Review shop drawings, vendor quotes, bid evaluations; develop construction release documents.Experience with 500 kV – 13.8 kV substations, open air and GIS; various bus configurations; raceway and grounding drawings.Budget, schedule, and quality management; coordinate with team; supervise and mentor engineers; communicate status to leadership.Leadership of larger production teams or multi-discipline coordination; responsible charge for projects.Other Experience / Skills
Written communications; drive for results; planning; prioritization; delegation; conflict management; teamwork.Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and standards in related discipline.Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain budgets and schedules for multiple substation design projects.Perform EHV substation design (physical, protective relaying, control) with focus on continuous improvement.Develop scoping documents for EHV substation projects; provide guidance on standards and codes.Mentor and supervise others; ensure compliance with quality program and project deliverables.Produce complex engineering deliverables; manage data, calculations, and design outputs; review lower-level work.Coordinate with internal / external teams; participate in project planning, scheduling, and resource management.Interface with clients, vendors, and subcontractors; convey client interests to project teams.Serve as a technical specialist, supporting multiple projects with complex technical challenges.Work Environment
